HIRING
Social Media Channel Manager - Super Rugby Pacific
In 2027, Super Rugby Pacific is backing itself to be bolder, more entertaining and harder to ignore. We're looking for a creative and chronically online Social Media Channel Manager to take charge of the competition's channels on a 12-month remote contract, working from anywhere in New Zealand or Australia.
About the role
Super Rugby Pacific brings together clubs from across New Zealand, Australia and Fiji. Things are changing for 2027, with plenty of exciting work underway. Social is where many of our fans will feel it first.
This is your chance to own it. You'll have the room to try new things, back your instincts and make content fans actually want to watch, and share. You'll run the day to day, from planning and publishing to getting stuck into the comments and working out what's landing. You'll be the voice fans hear when they talk to Super Rugby Pacific.
You'll work alongside our marketing and communications team, clubs, broadcast partners and agencies, but the channels are yours to shape.
This is a remote role, with some potential travel to key events. During the season, you'll be working weekends and evenings whenever there are games on.
What you'll be doing:
-
Owning the content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X and YouTube
-
Making noise around our biggest moments, from the draw and squad announcements to season launch, Super Round, marquee fixtures and finals
-
Jumping on trends fast, and making them unmistakably Super Rugby Pacific before the moment passes
-
Dreaming up fun, original ideas and formats, and bringing them to life
-
Designing and editing social-first graphics and video yourself, from match day assets to quick-turnaround trend content
-
Running live match day coverage that keeps fans glued to their phones, and is always sharp, accurate and on brand
-
Hunting down the stories, personalities and rivalries that get people talking, and turning them into content fans can't help but share
-
Teaming up with players, clubs, creators and broadcast talent to take our reach further
-
Briefing and managing agency partners and freelancers
-
Looking after our community and keeping your finger on the pulse of what fans are saying, and knowing when to join in
-
Tracking what's working, frequently reporting back to the team and using it to keep getting better
About you
-
Ideas come easily to you, and you're always first to a trend. You know what makes people stop scrolling, and you've got the results to back it up. You're quick, you're accurate and you're comfortable making calls on the fly on a busy match day. You love sport, you get rugby, and you're not afraid to have a bit of fun with it.
-
To be successful in this role you'll need:
-
3+ years managing social channels for brands, sports teams, publishers or agencies
-
A creative brain that thinks differently, a constant stream of fun ideas, and the guts to try things rugby hasn't seen before
-
Deep knowledge of social media platforms, audience behaviours, platform-native storytelling and channel-specific best practice, especially short-form video
-
Graphic design experience and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, with the ability to create, edit and optimise social-first content
-
Writing that's sharp, funny when it needs to be, and always accurate
-
Experience with scheduling, analytics and social listening tools
-
The confidence to work with a wide range of people across New Zealand, Australia and Fiji, and the self-discipline to do it remotely
-
Willingness to work on weekends and evenings during the season, because that's when the magic happens
