Super Rugby Round #17 Referees

The referee appointments for Round #17 of the 2019 Super Rugby season are now confirmed.

The seven-match Round 17 kicks-off in Dunedin where Angus Gardner will be in charge of the Highlanders versus Bulls clash which is a last chance, must-win match for the home team. The same evening Brendon Pickerill will referee the Reds versus Blues match in Brisbane where there is a mathematical chance that the visitors can still make the Finals, albeit a slim one.

There are five matches on Saturday with proceedings starting in Christchurch where the Crusaders host the Rebels whose Finals hopes are slipping away after a home loss to the Waratahs last round. Glen Jackson will be in charge, while fellow Kiwi referee Ben O'Keeffe has the whistle for the crucial Australian Conference derby between the Waratahs and Brumbies Sydney - the 'Tahs Finals hopes are still alive but nothing short of a victory is required. Meanwhile, in Johannesburg the Lions [second in South African Conference] play the Hurricanes [second in New Zealand Conference] with Jaco Peyper the referee.

The Stormers play the Sunwolves in Cape Town where the home side will be searching for a bonus point win as they currently lie 5th in the Conference but only five points behind the second-placed Lions. The final match of the round sees the in-form Jaguares, leaders of South African Conference, host the Sharks [4th] in Buenos Aires as the Argentinean side seek to secure a home quarter-final. The referee is Nick Briant.
