Cardiff’s Principality Stadium once again hosts Los Pumas – a stadium and a city that, in recent memory, evokes the historic 43-20 victory against Ireland in 2015, which secured their place in the World Cup semifinals.
But those were different times. Felipe Contepomi’s men will face a revamped Wales side that has just ended an 18-match losing streak and has a new coach in Steve Tandy at the helm.
It has been three years since Los Pumas last played in Wales. The last time was 2022, also in the November international window, with a 20-13 loss for the Argentine national team. The last match between the two teams was at the World Cup in France in 2023, in Marseille for the quarterfinals, with Los Pumas winning 29-17.
On Sunday, the roof of the stadium will remain closed and a large crowd is expected to be present. It will be the first match for the two teams in this series of international meetings in the European autumn.
