The Argentina U20 team, Los Pumitas, has been announced by led coach Nicolás Fernández Miranda for their opening match against USA on 27 June in Tbilisi,Georgia.

In past tournaments Argentina's best record is third place. A feat achieved in the last edition of the world cup in 2025 in Italy, as well as in 2016 when it was played in England. From the aforementioned third place in Italy last year, six players will feature once agaian: Nicolás Cambiasso, Pedro Coll, Tomás Dande, Ramón Fernández, Bautista Lescano, Valentino Reggiardo.

It is worth noting that the international championship will have a new format. In 2026 there will be 16 countries [up from 12] that will try to lift the trophy. They will be distributed in four groups of four teams each and the winners of each of them will qualify directly to the semifinals, while the second will compete from fifth to eighth place. The third and fourth will compete for the positions from ninth to twelfth and from thirteenth to sixteenth, respectively.

Assistant coache of the team, Carlos Mohapp, on the first match: "The team is very good and the preparation was very good to be able to arrive in Georgia in the best way. We continue to refine many positive aspects achieved in the Rugby Championship and work to improve other points that we believe are important for the World Cup. The expectation is that the team can demonstrate that in this championship. We are convinced that this squad has the game to dominate the game and impose themselves from the fixed formations. We believe that the key points are going to be obtaining and dominating the advance from there. Generate a lot of volume of play with our balls and dominate in contact," Mohapp concluded.
