The Pumas will seek revenge this weekend to reverse last week's defeat in La Plata (12-35). Felipe Contepomi's team will be seeking their second win of the year, and first at home, at the Bicentennial Stadium - the first victory being the 28-24 win over the British & Irish Lions in Dublin on June 20.
The last time Los Pumas played in San Juan was in 2022, when they beat Australia 48-17 in the Rugby Championship.
This match marks a major milestone for Pablo Matera who will reach 111 caps to surpass Agustín Creevy (110) as the most capped player in the history of Los Pumas. Matera emerged from Alumni and made his debut on May 1, 2013 against Chile, was captain from 2018 to 2021, has scored 13 tries and earned 13 caps in 3 three World Cups (2015 – 2019 – 2023).
Conversely, Agustín Moyano (Dogos XV) and Benjamín Grondona (Bristol Bears) will potentially make their debuts in the Los Pumas shirt.
Compared to the First test match, the coach has made 7 changes in the starting lineup: Thomas Gallo for Mayco Vivas, Francisco Gómez Kodela for Pedro Delgado, Guido Petti for Lucas Paulos, Santiago Grondona for Facundo Isa (Matera goes from 8 and Grondona from 6), Simón Benítez Cruz for Gonzalo Bertanou (the Mendoza native was injured in the previous match in La Plata), Ignacio Mendy for Santiago Cordero and Matías Moroni for Rodrigo Isgró (ruled out due to HIA protocol).
