Los Pumas captain Julián Montoya will earn his 100th cap when Argentina faces Australia in the Rugby Championship in Santa Fe.
Montoya is Argentina’s fourth player to reach 100 test caps.
The three other Argentines with 100 test caps under their belts are hooker Agustín Creevy, flyhalf Nicolás Sánchez and flank Pablo Matera.
Creevy, who retired from international rugby after the defeat against the Wallabies last weekend, debuted in 2005 and earned his 100th cap in 2023.
Sánchez debuted in 2010 and earned his 100th cap in 2023 while Matera debuted in 2013 and earned his 100th cap in 2024.
For the Test in Santa Fe the tried and tested loose trio of Juan Martin Gonzalez, Marcos Kremer, and Pablo Matera who came through with the First test with flying colours will once again play a huge role. The new halfback partnership of Gonzalo Bertranou and Tomas Albornoz will be thoroughly tested but out back the experienced Juan Cruz Mallia and brilliant Mateo Carreras will keep things calm.
In the First test the Los Pumas scored the first 10 points of the game and Juan Martin Gonzalez was their try scorer in the first half. It was 13-7 to the hosts by half time but the Wallabies stayed in the game and after the lead changed hands a couple of times a penalty on the final whistle by Donaldson won it for Australia.
It was Australia's first major scalp under coach Joe Schmidt, defying rain and a raucous home crowd to upset World Cup semifinalists Argentina 20-19 and the stirring comeback win in La Plata keeps their Rugby Championship hopes alive.
