Super Rugby and The Rugby Championship will this season adopt the Law Amendments that were announced by World Rugby in July 2017 prior to the start of the 2017/2018 northern hemisphere season. The amendments relate to the scrum (Law 20), tackle (Law 15) and ruck (Law 16).
SANZAAR has announced the referee team that will officiate the 2018 Super Rugby season. With the Super Rugby tournament format reducing to 120 regular season matches this season the referee team has been reduced from 19 to 17 referees.
The Quarter-final Super Rugby team of the week is very strong on paper and contains players hitting peak form at the right end of the season. Player of the Week is Lions backrow forward Jaco Kriel who scored a try, carried 11 times, beat 8 defenders and made 13 tackles.

Round 16 of Super Rugby sees only Australian and South African teams in action as New Zealand focus their attention on the deciding match between the All Blacks and touring British and Irish Lions. The round kicks off Friday night with two back-to-back Australia derbies.
The 2017 Super Rugby season enters the penultimate round this weekend with the Australian teams returning to action to join the South African teams in Round 16 following the conclusion of the June Test window.
